Blessed Are You O Woman!
Was chatting with a couple over a wedding lunch when they dropped a golden line into my thoughts. This thought struck for the rest of the day and developed into a blog entry. Here goes...
Eliz: Notice that you and your Dar are always happy
Lady G: Are we?
Eliz: Yeah you do
TW: That's true
Lady G: Perhaps it's because Dar is a natural extrovert and I'm ultra-friendly
TW: I think it's because your Dar is so stable as a person (read as: stable mentally, emotionally and intelligently) that you are able to be carefree as a person; the woman you want to be.
Unlike some other women who has to "baby" their man and can't be as carefree as they'll like
Eliz: That's true
Man, this thought really struck.
As I explore the reasoning behind this statement (and mind you, this came from a guy!), I cannot help but to echo how right he is.
A woman's happiness is very much tied to the man she chooses to follow in her life. If the guy is decent, honest (and I don't mean stupid or undesirable) and generally a good guy who isn't emotionally shut up, he is able to manage conversations of substantial depth to his gal, his gal will be one lucky gal.
Of course, no man is perfect as is no woman. But finding a guy whom you can trust to build a good life together, whom you know allows you to follow your heart when you have a passion, who gives in to your whims and fancies yet understands when to be assertive to not let you take things for granted - there is no price tag for this.
As wretched as it might sound, a man's love can really change a woman.
We will automatically want to be better gfs, fiancees, wives if our darlings hold us in highest regard.
So gentlemen, don't think that being a gentlemen is being a wimp.
A true gentlemen carries a force of character, with enough confidence to express to the world that they are not ashamed to be displayed as loving man (not Cassanova, playboy). We don't need you to put up lavish displays of affection and go all soft and doe-eyed when talking to us in public. Just need you to be the man you need to be in our lives; be there in our weak moments, be strong when a decision is needed to change the situation around, be willing to encompass all that is us.
I am blessed and happy because the man I love accepts all of me, helps me go after the dreams I harbour, challenges me to venture the unknown possibilities. He communicates, spends a decent amount of time in conversation (because I need a lot of quaility conversations) with me, thinks ahead for our future when I am short-sighted.
With a man like this, I don't have to pretend anything. I adorn his love like a garment. How can I not be happy when I know this guy commits to work all things together? How can I not be happy to be who I am and more?
Truly blessed.
